Watching movies on the couch

Watching movies on the couch

Do you want to brush up on your French while hanging out on the couch? Which can. It is even a challenge to choose between the wide range. We give some tips to get you started.

Netflix (from € 7.99 per month) you will find many French films and series. The toppers: Demain tout commence, (with Omar Sy), De rouille et d’os (with Marion Cotillard and Matthias Schoenaerts) and Des vents contraires (with Benoît Magimel and Audrey Tautou).

NPO Start Plus (€ 2.95 per month) offers a number of beautiful French-language films, such as La fille inconnue (with Adèle Haenel), l’Avenir (with Isabelle Huppert) and La tête haute (with Catherine Deneuve).
You can also find the widely acclaimed Intouchables here.

Through Pathé at home you can rent and buy recent movies. Such as the wonderful comedy Le grand bain (with a star cast by Mathieu Amalric, Guillaume Canet and Benoît Poelvoorde, among others). Other tips: Hors Normes (with Vincent Cassel) and Celle que vous croyez (with Juliette Binoche).

Also on Picl you can rent current films. Have you for example before La belle époque missed it in the cinema, you can rent it now. You can also find the enchantingly beautiful drama Portrait de la jeune fille en feu here.

Or take advantage of the free trial period Cinetree (thereafter € 7.99 per month), where the offer for subscribers changes every 10 weeks. You can also rent individual films, such as Les Petits Mouchoirs (with star cast from Marion Cotillard and Jean Dujardin) and La vie d’Adele (with Léa Seydoux and Adèle Exarchopoulos).

On Cinemember the range of rental films is about the same as, for example, Picl. If you look under the subscription films, the range of French films is so overwhelming that the free trial period of 2 weeks is too little (a monthly subscription costs € 9.99). Our recommendations: the impressive Incendies (with Lubna Azabal), Fille de Brest (with Sidse Babett Knudsen and Benoît Magimel) and Die last summer (with Laurent Lafitte).

Have fun watching!
