May 1st for lovers

You undoubtedly know that May 1 is Labor Day. But did you also know that Fête du Muguet is celebrated on May 1? On this day, the French give a lily of the valley (un muguet) to everyone dear to them. That is a tradition that goes back a long way. It seems that in the Renaissance King Charles IX of France[https://nl .wikipedia.org/wiki/Karel_IX_van_Frankrijk] got a lily of the valley for good luck. Then he proclaimed May 1 day of love. In the 15th century, the gentlemen went into the woods to pick lilies of the valley. That is no longer necessary: you can simply buy the flowers on the street.
